TRUE ADVENTURE

The best way that a man could test his readiness to encounter the common variety of mankind would be to climb down a chimney into any house at random, and get on as well as possible with the people inside. And that is essentially what each one of us did on the day that he was born. This is, indeed, the sublime and special romance of the family. It is romantic because it is a toss-up. It is romantic because it is everything that its enemies call it. It is romantic because it is arbitrary. It is romantic because it is there...The element of adventure begins to exist; for an adventure is, by its nature, a thing that comes to us. It is a thing that chooses us, not a thing that we choose...The supreme adventure is being born. In other words, when we step into the family we step into a fairytale. ~GK Chesterton, Heretics

Happy & Healthy

I'm sure many of you assumed that our blogging days were over, but after a long hiatus we're back! Our biggest change since our last post was the arrival of Caitanna Maelle on December 30th. The older kids love their little sister and Suava is very excited for her to be 3 so that they can share clothes and a bed (we don't think she quite understands that she will be 6 by then:)

Caitanna is a great baby and we quite enjoy her many smiles. She discovered her hands a few days ago and is greatly enjoying watching her fists! She will not take a soother but enjoys not her thumb or fingers, but sucking on the heel of her hand--she makes lots of loud slurping noises to the merriment of her older siblings.

She is a really smiley baby--here she is after church last Sunday

Kai is now 2 after celebrating his birthday last week--he had a little party but Mommy and Daddy's gift was a couple days late. As you can see from the big grin he enjoys his train set!

Kai is talking a mile a minute and for the most part we understand everything he says (most of it mimics everything Suava says!) but some cute things he still says are mini 'eats (mini wheats), choclick (chocolate) and rice bebes (rice crispies). He is a very emotional little man--quick to smile, quick to cry and unfortunately quick to bite his big sister when provoked (or not so provoked as the case may be).

Going for a family walk on one of the warmer days

Kai's scowl is actually a common sight for us--if he is not happy his face definitely shows it!
Caitanna all ready and waiting in her Chariot!

Suava enjoying Kai's new Thomas the Tank Engine (it took them a week to figure out that it made noises and made steam when you added batteries and water)
Kai cooking supper in the kitchen that friends from church gave him and Suava

Suava is 3 but with her whole heart yearns to be 5 so that she can go to school! She is just as spunky (aka strong-willed) as ever and everyday amazes us with how grown up she is. I posted this picture so that everyone could see her cute brown vest--we think she looks adorable in brown and have loved that the grandparents have sent cute brown girly clothes for her. Suava has other ideas about her clothes--she takes out all the clothes she does not like from her drawers and gives them to Kai or hides them with the cloth diapers, laundry, or anywhere else she doesn't have to see them. This is in fact where all her brown clothes go, along with things that have ribbons or something that just isn't stylish enough for her. Today she informed me that she only likes clothes that are pink, purple or red--all other colours are not cute (her words). So if you were wondering about spring fashion for 2008, just ask Suava!

And I will finish off this post with the Quote of the Day courtesy of Suava a few days ago:
"Watch and learn Daddy" (I believe she was demonstating a cleaning technique)

I can't believe how much older they look! They are freaking adorable!!! You totally just made Auntie & Uncle's night in the middle of the end-of-semester-stress. Just a few more weeks and we get to see you! Thanks for posting!
